1/31/2010 8:43:16 PM - Likes it - I had read about Hot Basil in The Pitch's review several months ago. Living in the Overland Park area and a lover of Thai food, I was anxious to try Hot Basil. It took me a few months to find someone that was interested in trying it out with me, but luckily I had tucked the restaurant information away in my head. I tried it, had a wonderful experience, and the food was delicious! Finally I had a dish that was the perfect amount of spice, yet flavorful. (I like my food EXTRA spicy!) I am making sure everyone in the KC area knows about Hot Basil!

4/5/2010 2:34:53 PM - Likes it - know you can't judge a book by it's cover, but I was somewhat hesitant to eat at a Thai restaurant that was part of a strip mall. My wife and I were prompted to go there by one of those coupon-mailers. We were pleasantly surprised. We started with the spring roll deluxe appetizer (2 soft spring rolls, 2 fried egg rolls). The dipping sauces were delicious as were the rolls. My wife ordered the dish with the thin rice noodles (forgive me for forgetting it, on the menu it's located near the Phad Thai). It was delicious. I ordered the Phad Thai and I told them Thai Hot. Now, anywhere else I've been, I think they look at me as an American white guy and say, "Yeah, right? He can't handle Thai Hot." Well, these guys didn't spare me. And the great thing is, the heat did NOT take over the slight sweetness of the Phad Thai. It really is the best Thai in the KC Metro with excellent service. Please try it.?

6/1/2010 10:59:39 AM - Likes it - A co-worker had told me about Hot Basil last week. Well, we decided today that we would go there for lunch. I haven't had Thai food in over 1.5 years (and it was in San Diego). I am pleased to say that Hot Basil was delicious. I had the Thai Cashew Chicken and got it mild spicy. Next time I will get it medium spicy. It was really good and the Thai Iced Tea was great, as well. Definitely will be bringing my husband next time.
